Abstract
Despite considerable progress made in therapy and prophylaxis during the half of the century, Tuberculosis of various site continues to be a major health harzard in Korea, occasionally. In general, abdominal tuberculosis is described in three
main
forms; tuberculous peritonitis, gastrointestinal tuberculosis and a combination of both. The diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis, especially extraintestinal, is difficult due to vague symptoms and nonspecific laboratory findings.
Operation was resorted to for complications when diagnosis was in doubt and when intrinsic intestinal disease is proved.
We experienced a interesting and unique case of abdominal tuberculosis. A 26-year-old woman, who had been confirmed as tuberculous cervical lymphadenitis with tuberculous breast abscess 17 months ago, suffered from tuberculous salpingitis and
ovarian
abscess with left subphrenic tuberculous abscess involving surrounding organs, spleen, pancreas and liver. She has undergone uneventful good postoperative recovery course with antituberculous medication.
The authors experienced a case of tuberculous abscess of multiple intra-abdominal organs and presents the case with the brief review of the literatures.
